Learning The Violin On Your Own

By Ria Yuka

Many violinists seldom recommend a beginner to learn the instrument on his own. Their reasons are that the violin is a complicated instrument that requires much skill in perfecting. While this is true, the same applies to any other instrument and yet there are millions who do not benefit from rote learning.

Before deciding whether to enroll in a music school, or to try teaching yourself how to play the violin, there are certain requisites one must have to succeed in the endeavor. Are you really keen on learning, or is it just a passing phase that is being experienced? Having a strong passion is really important to seeing things out to the end.

Discipline is another attribute that must come with learning the violin. Little results will come to a person who practices little discipline and control. It will result in little or no progress, and eventually such a person will end his interest in the instrument.

There are some things which having a personal violin coach might not help to develop. These are the ingredients that other self taught musicians have inculcated to produce their own success. All this have a lot to do with the amount of passion one has, how dedicated one is to his craft, and the level of discipline being applied in practicing this craft.

The path to becoming skilled in playing the violin with self taught methods must be reinforced by all these qualities. Through strong determination and some good fortune, it is even possible to become a performing violinist. And you might never need to spend a single cent on having a personal violin teacher.

Other benefits can be derived from making the decision to teach yourself how to play the violin instead of employing a teacher. The money that is not used for fees, can be used to buy a better quality violin. It can also be used for other violin accessories or good learning material.

Trying to figure out the violin by yourself can also encourage experimentation and greater imagination. This is a facet of self taught violinists that is harder to find in those who have been trained in a structured environment. It is of great benefit for those who wish to pursue a professional career in the instrument.

Not everything will be rosy when attempting such self taught methods. It might be especially difficult in the beginning trying to figure things out on your own. But engaging in a like-minded community will be of great help. Through due application of dedication and discipline, together with your passion, you can definitely learn how to play the violin on your own. - 16459
