Scarless Tummy Tuck Exposed

By Brandon Geberinger

A partial abdominoplasty is called a scarless tummy tuck. This method is done by a cosmetic surgeon. Scars will be less visible with this type of tummy tuck. The best candidates for a scarless tummy tuck are those who tried diet and exercise but still cant firm up or improve the loss of elasticity in their abdomen. Pregnancy, age or rapid weight gain can cause loss of elasticity. This procedure works best if your problem is in the lower abdomen and your abdomen doesnt overhang excessively. When the surgeon removes excess skin and tightens up the muscles than your lower abdomen will look firm.

A scarless tummy tuck has a lower risk for complications because this type of operation is usually only a few hours long. If you smoke, you should try to stop approximately two weeks before your tummy tuck to make sure you heal well. Your surgeon will give you all the information you need so youre ready for the surgery.

A general anesthetic or local anesthetic in addition to a sedative will be used. The surgeon may also do liposuction along with the surgery.

The surgeon will make an incision above the pubis and then stretch the skin flap down. The fat will than be removed and the skin tightened. He will stitch the flap back into place. The belly button doesnt need to be removed during this procedure.

A scarless tummy tuck typically requires a short hospital stay. In fact, most patients go home the same day. After the surgery, symptoms such as pain, tenderness, swelling and bruising may last for a period of six weeks. In only a few days, you may be able to do some light activities but it can take a month for total recovery. In about 10 days, your stitches will be removed. You should try to be as active as you can once the stitches are out. Activity will decrease risks of blood clots and speed the recovery process. Its important to follow the directions from your surgeon and not miss any appointments. - 16459
